Laptop Donation: Voluntary Action Harrow

The Kula Foundation Receives an In-Kind Laptop Donation from Voluntary Action Harrow’s SustainIT Initiative

We are delighted to share some exciting news that highlights the power of collaboration and sustainability in action. The Kula Foundation has received a refurbished Dell G3 gaming laptop through the SustainIT initiative, led by Voluntary Action Harrow. This thoughtful in-kind donation will directly strengthen our design work and support our day-to-day charitable operations.

Why It Matters

Every year, thousands of laptops and other electronic devices are discarded, many ending up in landfills despite having years of life left in them. Globally, over 50 million tonnes of e-waste are generated annually, making it one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world.

Initiatives like SustainIT tackle this challenge by rescuing laptops that would otherwise be thrown away, refurbishing or repairing them, and then redistributing them to non-profits and community organisations that need them most.

A Perfect Fit for Our Work

The Dell G3 gaming laptop we received is not only powerful but perfectly suited to the Kula Foundation’s needs. It will enable us to carry forward design projects, research, and program planning with greater efficiency. In particular, this donation supports our commitment to designing initiatives that create social, economic, and environmental impact – ensuring our limited resources go further in service of communities we work alongside.

Sustainability in Practice

This partnership is a practical reminder that sustainability is not only about new innovations but also about making better use of what already exists. By extending the life of equipment, SustainIT reduces waste, lessens demand for raw materials, and empowers non-profits like ours to access the tools needed for meaningful change.

Our Gratitude

We are incredibly grateful to Voluntary Action Harrow for their generosity and forward-thinking approach to sustainability. Their commitment to supporting non-profits through practical, environmentally-conscious initiatives exemplifies the kind of collaboration needed to drive systemic change.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

Looking Ahead

With this new tool in hand, the Kula Foundation can continue to design, test, and share ideas that explore how communities can build resilience, reduce waste, and create sustainable futures. Partnerships like these not only provide vital resources but also remind us that when we work together, nothing goes to waste.
